pretty bride's family wedding garter

a long time ago, christina, writer of the pretty bride blog, told me about her family’s wedding garter. she said that it was this totally amazing family heirloom that had been passed through the generations, with each bride adding something special to it. and, she was really excited to wear it on her wedding day. well, here it is…

this wedding garter was made 32 years ago for christina’s mom. it was hand-made of lace, beads and flowers from the dresses of three different aunts and her grandmother.

pretty amazing, huh? what i find even more amazing than the fact that is has been worn by eight different brides, is that each one has added something to it, and yet it still actually looks like it all goes together. i mean, it is pretty ornate, but it all works, making it even more special!

what will the pretty bride‘s contribution be to the family garter?? she is adding a piece of lace from the bottom of her dress. and, no word yet on who the next bride is that will get to wear it!
